Again, you make assumptions Grace, which is not always prudent.

Horror happens to be one of my favorite genres, of which I’m well-read, and this book was marketed as horror–not farcical horror, not campy horror, and not mild-mannered horror.

Frankly, I didn’t find the story frightening nor creepy. The prose was plodding, the analogies were trite and the quips became redundant–that is the reason why I was malcontent.

Also, I would love to see where I state or even imply that because I didn’t like a book no one else would either. In fact, I stated that I was glad you liked it and in no way did I attempt to say you were wrong in having such an opinion, a courtesy that you didn’t afford me in your original comment (hence the snark).

Well that’s your opinion. And i think you need to understand that perhaps you were malcontent with The Well because it wasn’t your type of book. Just as I wouldn’t like a romance novel, they aren’t my taste. But you act like just because you didn’t like it, that others won’t either. Which obviously isn’t true at all.

Honestly, Grace, I think you’re a shill. But in the event that you’re not, I will not invalidate your comment by saying that “I think you’re completely wrong” because I understand that everyone has different sensibilities, thus opinions are subjective, and therefore can be neither right nor wrong. With that same respect, I’m glad you enjoyed the book and that it’s on your top 10 best list, however, I still think it was sophomoric.

Honestly, I think you’re completely wrong. I thought The Well was a great book. It’s on my Top 10 BEST list, not worst. It was clever and I loved the cute metaphors.

Kilina, I never thought about that before, but you’re right–it does kind of remind me of The Ring in a sense. As for the book being creepy…not really and that was the problem. LOL

Lenore, I hadn’t heard of The Midnight Twins before, now I’m kinda curious.
